Time to explore Oviedo, capital city of Asturias, which is NW Spain closer to Portugal. What better way to do it than with my two favorite guys. This is Green Spain and boy is it. Cooler weather and lots of green mountains. The city is quite busy with beautiful bronze sculptures, big plazas and lots of fabada and cider. Fabada is a traditional bean stew with tasty meats and white beans. It was quite yummy, but a lot of beans, even for me. I even tried the black sausage made from pigs’ blood. Not bad. The Asturias cider, sidra, is made from apples with no sugar or additives. Traditionally, it’s poured from up high to add some fizz to its natural state. Not a fan, very dry and tart.
